Irritated, he threw caution into the wind and led a personal assault against the Obsidian Lords defensive lines with his finest Possessed Warriors. However, many years of crusading had dulled Varen's mind, he expected to merely overwhelm his opponent in a tide of gore and violence like he had all other victims, and was not prepared to deal with the staunch tenacity of his foe.
Having the element of surprise, his army of fanatics and daemons initially had the upper hand. Not one to be outmatched he challenged them with his army, and summoned a vast army of daemons in a tide of unrelenting bloodlust to aid him in his mission. Unknowingly upon preying upon a fresh new planet, he found that it had already been conquered by the Obsidian Lords. Every battle he would construct colossal edifices to Khorne from the corpses of the slain and watched as his infamous legacy grew. Once a former Chaplain of the Word Bearers, Varen Armagon led crusades of blood and destruction against the constructs of the Imperium with his warband of zealous humans who had once been entire regiments of Imperial Guardsmen, swayed to the fold of Chaos with his powerful rhetoric.
